Meet Refik Anadol
Refik Anadol is a Turkish-American new media artist celebrated for his innovative use of artificial intelligence in art. Based in Los Angeles, Anadol is renowned for creating immersive installations that transform data into dynamic visual experiences. His groundbreaking work Unsupervised at MoMA draws on the museum’s collection to reinterpret over 200 years of art history using AI, generating continuously evolving visuals that engaged giant crowds when it went on view in 2022. Anadol has also collaborated with the Yawanawá community in the Amazon, creating digital artworks that merge indigenous art with environmental data, highlighting the importance of cultural preservation and ecological awareness. This fall, the artist announced that he plans to open DATALAND, the world’s first museum dedicated to AI art, in downtown Los Angeles in 2025.
